Why my linux have no sound ? ( New solution !)
May 28th, 2009 at 1:26 am (Linux, Software tips)
Yesterday , I post an article called “Why did my SUSE lose its sound ” (review here ) . And the method I told you seems remained when we reboot our system . And today , I find a better choice to show you !
About the reason why Test Sound worked but the Banshee and Totem didn’t will not be mentioned here . We just regard it as a compatiblity problem of linux and Hardware . And today , I will post more pictures here ,if you have trouble to view them because of the speed of loading pictures , just pay more patience , please.

Before we start , check if you have the ALSA installed (Three application : ALSA , ALSA ulit, and ALSA-firmware) ,if not yet , install it first ! and Test your sound card with the method mentioned in the last article .
OK, Let’s go here,
1.Go to Computer -> Yast->hardware-> sound (we need to edit this ) , hardware information (where I can view the total information about our sound card )

2.Delete the default configuration appearing in the sound window (maybe there is an error appearing , ignore it . and delete it later . See in step 6 )
3.click “add” button in sound window
4.choose the right sound card according to the hardware window showed (the following picture should be different due to the differences between your computer and mine ! So choose your own option according to your hardware informatin !) ,

5.NEXT button and choose “Normal setup” , just went on and it will appear in the sound window

6.Maybe , you haven’t deleted the former configuration by now , Then delete it now ~
Note : may be the volume control in the panel maybe inavailable now , just logout and login again to refresh the new configure !
